Bonjour mes amis. Quite a lively month we've had around here! First there was the Pigeon Who Came In From the Cold. The story in a nutshell: we had the windows open on a warm day in March but the screens aren't in yet. So a pigeon came flying by, decided to investigate that gaping hole in the building, and ended up sitting quietly in the corner of our used book room on an old copy of "Vintage American Convertibles". I tried tossing little popcorn cake crumbs to lure it back to the open window, but that just resulted in a floor full of crumbs and a freaked out pigeon shitting all over that book about convertibles. Eventually I gave in and called buildign maintenance, who threw a big net over it and chucked it out the window.
The bigger news, however, is the closure of my music room! Yes indeed my darlings, yours truly is now a bonafide member of the bookshop staff again. The CDs are still present and accounted for; about a week ago we moved some bookshelves to make room and brought me and my music out here into the store proper. So far I'm enjoying it although, like most things, it has its pluses and minuses.

So there you have it! Full update-ness for you, XOXOXO! As an aside, I've heard rumors that this blog's acerbic tone has made a couple friends -- Cindy? Is this thing on? -- a bit trepidacious about setting foot in the store. Well let me assure you that I really don't bite. Mostly I update when I'm feeling my absolute worst about humanity but I'm honestly a fairly nice guy. So come on in sometime and look around. Just don't ask me to play you any new age and we'll get along fine! ;)

- I can go to the bathroom whenever I want because there's generally someone nearby to watch my counter

- It's a lot harder to get away with being on the internet all day
- I have to be more careful what I play...it seems when folks are shopping for books they don't necessarily want to hear heavy metal
- They're making me answer the phone now, which means I have to field lots of book ordering questions, an activity in which I'm woefully out of practice
